We walked the Bunkhouse trail down to the bridge (Blackhawk and Sentinel Crossings are closed until further notice) and came back because the trail was too hot (73 degrees) for our preschooler and he complained about walking. Those are also clean and well taken care of. However the bathroom and gift shop are open. Since we are still in a pandemic the educational part of the visitor center was closed. My preschooler loved running around and asking about the different labels. In the picnic area there is a path that winds around in a big “circle” to look at the different trees and cactus and labels of the plants. ![]() There are no trash cans because it is a “pack out” park to keep wildlife safe. The picnic area is clean and well taken care of. We came to the state park for a picnic lunch and walk afterwards. Nice to have a restroom available to wash hands and get cleaned up before hiking again. There were several picnic benches available, so we decided to use that for our picnic lunch before we headed out to another hike.
